The San Francisco 49ers have one of the best offenses on paper heading into 2024.

From the reigning Offensive Player of the Year in running back Christian McCaffrey, to Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle, to All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel, San Francisco has everything they need to be a dangerous team once again on offense.

However, that doesn’t mean that they will stop looking for extra help and giving new guys opportunities this preseason.

According to insider Aaron Wilson, the 49ers are working out former XFL wide receiver Monroe Young.

Young, an undrafted wide receiver out of the University of California-Berkeley, spent last season with the DC Defenders of the XFL.

Now, he is getting an opportunity to try and fight for his NFL dream.

The former Golden Bear had his best collegiate season in 2022 when he caught 23 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns.

More of a role player during his collegiate career, the six-foot, 210-pound pass-catcher will look to find a way to contribute in training camp with the team right down the road from his alma mater.

Again, the 49ers have a deep wide receiver room.

If they can work things out with 1,000-yard wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, that might make things even tougher for a young player like Young.

Between Aiyuk, Samuel, first-round draft choice Ricky Pearsall and veteran Jauan Jennings, this wide receiver room is already crowded.

What can Young do to get the attention of head coach Kyle Shanahan?

That might be the biggest question for the former undrafted wide receiver this preseason.
