The San Francisco 49ers are desperate to win a Super Bowl.
They’ve been knocking on the door for quite a while now, but they still have more than two decades without hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy.
That’s why they cannot afford to lose Brandon Aiyuk.
At least, that’s how NFL analyst Joe Fortenbaugh feels.
Talking on ESPN’s First Take, he argued that moving on from Aiyuk would put the last nail in their coffin and would all but end their chances of winning a Super Bowl.

He argued that not only is Aiyuk one of the best players on the team, but his presence there also allows their injury-prone players to take some pressure off their shoulders.
Fortenbaugh explained that teams that go the distance are usually among the healthiest teams in the National Football League, which is why it’s so difficult to repeat or go deep in the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
He thinks that because of the law of averages, it’s highly unlikely that the Niners will be as healthy next season.
And if Aiyuk isn’t there, that’s more touches for their three injury-prone stars: Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey.
Truth be told, that makes sense.
Fontebaugh believes the Niners have all the leverage in this situation and shouldn’t cave into Aiyuk’s demands.
Still, it’s never good to have someone disgruntled disrupting the team’s chemistry, and it seems like Aiyuk is willing to make life difficult for the Niners if he doesn’t get his way.
