Besides being one of the greatest players in NBA history, Kevin Durant is also making a case for being considered the greatest player in USA Basketball history.

The Phoenix Suns forward has been nothing short of spectacular every single time he’s suited up for the national team.

On top of that, he just broke Lisa Leslie’s legendary record for the most points in the Olympics for a USA Basketball player — both male and female.

That’s why he took to Twitter to share a pic of the entire team hanging out, shouting out Lisa Leslie and hyping up his teammates about getting the gold medal.

Records are meant to be broken, I’ll hold on to this until another great comes along and passes me up…Lisa Leslie you are the gold standard in basketball, I appreciate your love and support throughout the years..much love to you always…it’s all about the gold baby. Let’s get… pic.twitter.com/huJxy8Qywa

Midway through the third quarter of the win over Brazil, Durant knocked down a shot to take his tally to 489 points, topping Leslie’s record by one.

He finished the game with 11 points, so the all-time record is now at 494 and counting.

Durant, who suffered a calf injury before the Olympics and was held out of exhibition games because of that, has been a major factor for Steve Kerr’s team throughout the course of the entire tournament.

Thus far, he’s averaged 14.8 points on 60% from the floor and 62.5% from beyond the arc.

He and his team will have to meet with Nikola Jokic and Serbia on Thursday.
