Team USA, led by their NBA stars and coach Steve Kerr, is perfect so far in the Olympics.
Not only that, but they’ve dominated their opposition with ease.
Outside of minor stretches, the Americans have been in absolute control of every game from start to finish.
That should be all that matters.
However, Gilbert Arenas and Kenyon Martin don’t feel that way.
In the latest edition of Gil’s Arena, the former NBA stars called out Steve Kerr for benching Jayson Tatum in the first game of the Olympics (via NBA Central).
Gilbert Arenas and Kenyon Martin calls out Team USA’s coaching staff:
Gilbert: “You’re not gonna sit Jimmy Butler and bring him off the bench. Right?”
Kenyon: “If Jayson Tatum was on your roster, would there ever be a situation where he had a DNP?”pic.twitter.com/wesGf3y6U1

They even claimed that they should send Kerr back home and joked about his mental health.
Martin claimed that Kerr was messing with Tatum’s legacy and that he had spent time away from his family to be there, so he should play.
Of course, that makes sense, but that was three games ago, and both Kerr and Tatum have already addressed and moved past the situation.
At the end of the day, the team has won every single game by a margin, and that should be the only thing that matters.
Players must make sacrifices and play different roles when they suit up for the national team; that’s just the way it is.
The Olympics aren’t about trying to make the players feel well or nurturing their egos; they’re about fielding the best team in the best situation and doing what’s best for the whole team.
Tatum is a superstar and could and should play at all times, but getting one DNP shouldn’t be the end of the world.
