Former six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has been retired for a couple of years now.

However, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t miss the game.

The Bucs legend was recently asked on Green Light what he misses most about training camp.

“If it’s anything at training camp that I do miss, I do miss the opportunity to fix mistakes,” McCoy stated.

In addition to his answer, McCoy jokingly said that he misses getting orange cans of Gatorade during practice too.

Going back to correct mistakes is one of the most important parts of life in the NFL.

Whether you are a coach or a player, you need to be able to go back and look at the film to see what you did wrong on a particular play.

That is how you become great at what you do.

Being a Pro Bowl and All-Pro defensive tackle, McCoy was one of the best at his position, which also means he was great at going back to fix his mistakes.

The former Oklahoma Sooner had six seasons with at least six sacks in his career.

For any interior defensive lineman, that is impressive because of all the congestion in the trenches.

Without him going back to look at the film, he might not have been able to be one of the best defenders in the league during his 11-year career.

Now an analyst for the NFL Network, McCoy is now making a living watching film of players to see what separates the good from the great.
