The Indianapolis Colts just can’t catch a break.
They will have their young star QB Anthony Richardson back on the field, but he could start the season without one of his primary weapons.
According to a report by Stephen Holder of ESPN, second-year WR Josh Downs left practice with an apparent leg injury.
Holder claimed that Downs has had a great training camp thus far, adding that he had to be helped off the field and wasn’t able to put any weight on his lower leg.
Colts WR Josh Downs, who’s had a great camp, was just tackled to the ground and came up with an apparent ankle injury. Had to helped off the field and did not put weight on the lower leg.
Not great.

He also stated that none of this should’ve happened in the first place, as he was just partaking in a 7-on-7 drill before being tackled all the way to the ground by free safety Nick Cross.
Reports state that Colts HC Shane Steichen even called out Cross for the play, as this is the last thing you want to do when you’re practicing.
Downs had a very promising rookie season.
He hauled in 68 receptions on 98 targets for 771 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 11.3 yards per reception.
He was expected to be a key contributor to the offense, lining up next to Michael Pittman Jr. as Anthony Richardson’s primary weapon in the passing game.
The Colts have yet to release any sort of update or official information regarding the extent and severity of the injury and how much time it might take for him to be back on the field, but it shouldn’t take long before they address this worrisome situation with the media.
