Mike Tomlin Had Blunt Response To Brandon Aiyuk Trade Rumors

The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t have a clear-cut WR2 right now.

With Diontae Johnson gone, everybody expects George Pickens to slide in and be their alpha dog, and he’s proved that he can handle that kind of workload.

However, they don’t have that much to work with besides him.

Van Jefferson has looked sharp in the preseason, and rookie Roman Wilson drew great first impressions before suffering an ankle injury.

That’s why it makes sense that Brandon Aiyuk has been tied to the Steelers as of late.

Still, when asked about whether they would look to add another wide receiver to the team, HC Mike Tomlin was tight-lipped.

Instead, he claimed that he would let the media speculate on that (via Dov Kleiman).

They were never going to get a different answer from a veteran coach like Tomlin, although they definitely had to try.

There have been rumors about Aiyuk and the Steelers for months now, as he tweeted at Coach Tomlin about their apparent resemblance, but he did so shortly after talking about his discontent with his team.

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly asking a lot in return for their All-Pro receiver, who’s also reported to be a target for the Cleveland Browns.

The Steelers could most definitely use another wideout, even if they’re expected to deploy a run-heavy offense under Arthur Smith.

Whether they’ll be willing to meet the Niners’ demands for his services, however, remains to be seen, and talks could heat up as the start of the season closes in.
