The Milwaukee Bucks had a disappointing end to last season, falling in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs to the Indiana Pacers, an unceremonious early exit for a team that had aspirations of winning another championship.

After that unfortunate result, the Bucks this offseason decided not to retain guard Patrick Beverley, who has since signed a contract for Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel, and he recently revealed his honest thoughts about leaving Milwaukee.

On his podcast, Beverley said he’s happy to be playing meaningful basketball again instead of standing in the corner and being a role player.

“I go back to a role where 7 seconds to go, give me the ball. Watch me rock,” Beverley said. “Uh, isolation, step back. I get to hoop. You know, that’s what people forget about. Like, it’s cool. I played a great role. I had a phenomenal NBA career while I was in the NBA. But I don’t wanna stand in the corner and play with the Bucks.”

If this is truly it for Beverley in the NBA, he had an impressive career for seven teams over the course of 12 seasons, serving as a starter for the majority of it while making the playoffs nine times.

Beverley averaged just 6.2 points per game last season with Milwaukee after being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers near the trade deadline and playing the fewest minutes per game he had since he was a rookie.

It’s admirable to see him go overseas to make himself happy, and hopefully, he can do well with Tel Aviv.
