Carolina Panthers fans haven’t had a lot to get excited about in recent history.
Sure, they had the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but Bryce Young didn’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence in his rookie campaign.
It’s not necessarily that Young played particularly poorly, but the team around him didn’t seem to be set up for long-term success.
While the 2023 season ended worse than the Panthers expected coming into the year, there have been a few moments of optimism throughout the offseason.
One of the reasons for a sense of excitement, at least in recent days, is some of the players the Panthers have added to this point.
Diontae Johnson was one of the most under-the-radar moves of the offseason, but he could bring a lot to the table for Young in his sophomore season.
Young talked about this in an interview with Kay Adams of the Up And Adams Show and FanDuel, saying, he’s “wanting to win every single rep. And, again, that’s not something you can teach.”

He believes that Johnson was a great offseason addition to the team, and their chemistry to this point has been undeniable.
The two of them have created a special on-field bond to this point, which has proven to be a key to success with other teams.
For instance, Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp started eating together when Stafford first joined the Los Angeles Rams, and both players benefitted from that extra time.
Maybe Young and Johnson should follow in their footsteps.
