Team USA’s men’s Olympic basketball team is starting to find their peak form at the right time.

There were certainly questions about this team’s ability to win a gold medal, especially considering their struggles in exhibition games.

For a roster of All-Stars to struggle in a pre-Olympics game against South Sudan, it looked like Team USA was ready to phone it in.

They have since corrected themselves, as many expected, and they are just a few wins away from gold.

Before the games started, there were some critiques about how the roster was constructed.

Grant Hill was one of the final decision-makers about the roster, and he recently responded to these criticisms in an interview with Rachel Nichols.

“What people fail to realize is, I’m a fan of basketball. I’m a fan of these guys who are playing in the current era. It was disappointing… But I’ve tried to do this the right way,” Hill told Nichols via All The Smoke Productions.

Hill believes that, despite the flak he’s taken, this team was built for a specific purpose.

Team USA still has a lot of work to do if they want to win gold, but things are headed in the right direction.

If they do what’s now expected and take home the gold, Hill’s decision-making will look genius rather than foolish.
