Anthony Edwards had every intention of making an impact during his time with Team USA at the Olympics this summer.

The big games aren’t over yet but Edwards is already showing how important he is.

According to Courtside Buzz, Edwards is now the leading scorer for Team USA although he is playing the third least minutes per game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar is averaging 16.8 points in 18.6 minutes per game, shooting 62.5% from the field and 50% from the three-point line.

Anthony Edwards, who called himself “the No. 1 option,” is the leading scorer on Team USA, while playing the third LEAST minutes per game!

During these four games, Edwards has repeatedly shown that he really is a “number one option” for Team USA.

Weeks ago, he claimed that he’d be a dynamic force for the team and that is definitely the case.

This isn’t shocking considering how well he did last season and how much he helped Team USA in the FIBA World Cup last summer.

Edwards averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists during the 2023-24 season and pushed his team far into the playoffs.

After years of being called an up-and-coming player, Edwards earned his spot as one of the most talked-about stars of the league.

Now Edwards could be on his way to winning his first gold medal and he’s playing alongside some of his idols, such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry.

Even with less time on the court, Edwards is showing what he can bring to the team and making it the most-feared squad in the Paris games.

In four years, several of the players on Team USA will be retired, which means that Edwards might be the group’s new leader.

He is confirming that won’t be a problem.
