The Jacksonville Jaguars recently got some tough news along their defensive line.
According to head coach Doug Peterson, defensive lineman De’Shaan Dixon will miss the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL.
The third-year man out of Norfolk State was looking to make the final roster and have an impact defensively this season.

This is not a massive blow to Jacksonville’s defense considering Dixon had predominantly been a practice squad player for his first two seasons.
He did play in three games as a rookie after making the final roster in 2022, and he ended up recording one tackle that year.
This loss does allow the competition along the trenches to shrink for Pederson.
There is now one less person who is fighting for a roster spot.
However, with the likes of veterans Josh Hines-Allen, Arik Armstead, Roy Robertson-Harris, DaVon Hamilton, and Travon Walker in the fold, it was unlikely that Dixon would have made a real impact other than with his depth.
This Jaguars defense did finish ranked 22nd in the league in total defense, and that is going to have to change.
With what C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans are doing, with the moves that the Tennessee Titans made offensively this offseason, and with Anthony Richardson now healthy under center for the Indianapolis Colts, the Jaguars are going to have their work cut out for them this season on defense.
Injuries are something that Doug Pederson cannot afford to have happen if he wants to bring his team back to the playoffs.
