From the very second the San Francisco 49ers lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, Brandon Aiyuk had one goal and one goal only: Getting out of there.

Despite several attempts from the Niners to improve his contract and keep him surrounded by stars, the All-Pro season seemed to go to Aiyuk’s head, and he has been adamant and simply unwilling to play ball in any shape or form.

His antics on social media have been many and well-documented, and he has refused to practice, even though he’s been in attendance at training camp.

With that in mind, Niners HC Kyle Shanahan admitted that not having him there in practice was obviously a big blow (via SiriusXM NFL Radio).

Nevertheless, he also pointed out that they have several young players looking to make a name for themselves, praising them for playing hard and working hard every single day of the week.

The Niners need Aiyuk; he’s one of the best wide receivers in the game, and he’s become a legitimate star.

Then again, Aiyuk needs them much more than they need him.

He’s not going to be as wide open if he plays with, say, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his chances of getting that kind of production will be quite slim.

The Niners, on the other hand, could pretty much plug and play several players out there, including rookie Ricky Pearsall.

This situation is getting out of hand, and it shouldn’t take long before they get it over with.
