Despite making it to the Super Bowl last season, the offseason has been more tumultuous for the San Francisco 49ers than one might expect.

While the majority of their team is returning to try and avenge their loss in the big game, there are questions about Brandon Aiyuk’s status moving forward.

Aiyuk has requested a trade from the 49ers, and at the moment, is not participating in on-field activities with his teammates.

He is still in the building for meetings, but it’s not the same, especially since his team would like him to be on the field to build their chemistry and rapport back up.

Deebo Samuel talked about this impact in a recent article by Kevin Patra of Around the NFL, calling it “weird” to have Aiyuk on the sidelines.

Aiyuk has been one of the best young receivers in the league since he was drafted.

The 49ers have greatly benefitted from his services on the field, but for one reason or another, they haven’t signed him to a contract extension.

Samuel had a similar situation a few years back, but he and the team were able to resolve their differences and get a deal done.

The same cannot be said for Aiyuk, at least at the moment, which is why both sides are at an impasse.

The NFL season kicks off in less than a month.

For Aiyuk and the 49ers, the clock is ticking for them to either make a trade, or for the team to give in and give him the contract he has been searching for.
