An NFL quarterback partying with his team’s owner can be a really good or really bad thing, but in the case of the Houston Texans, all is well given the franchise’s recent turnaround and the immediate rise to superstardom C.J. Stroud experienced as a rookie QB.
After Friday’s massive preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team clearly had a reason to celebrate, and a recent clip surfaced of Stroud and the Texans’ owner letting loose in proper Texas fashion.
Texans insider Dylan Delgatto shared a clip on X of Stroud and some of his teammates joining country music star Luke Combs on stage Saturday night, but the boys were overshadowed by team owner Cal McNair, who shotgunned a beer with Combs and drew a raucous response from the massive crowd.

Stroud made his 2024 debut in the 20-12 win over the Steelers and completed two of his four passes for 41 yards, highlighted by a 34-yard touchdown to Tank Dell, who took the field for the first time since his stellar rookie season was cut short last year due to a broken leg.
It was exciting seeing Stroud and Dell together again, and the pair of sophomore sensations will look to create more magic this year when they aim to build off last season’s success.
It’s great to see Stroud become an honorary Texan despite simply playing for the team by ingratiating himself into the state’s culture, as it’s unlikely a California kid who went to school at Ohio State is all too familiar with scenes like this.
