Skip Bayless Says It Was A ‘Disgrace’ That LeBron Won MVP

LeBron James continues to be the most popular player in the NBA.

As such, he often gets star treatment, both with the refs and with the media.

Whether that’s right or wrong is a debate for a different time, but the fact of the matter is that most awards are narrative-based, and as such, it wasn’t a surprise to see him win Olympics MVP.

Unsurprisingly, Skip Bayless wasn’t having it.

I posted a video right after our men’s basketball team won gold presuming Steph had won MVP over LeBron after making 9 threes vs Serbia and 8 more against France including 4 in the 4th. It was obviously a disgrace that LeBron won it. Politics? Strings pulled? Tell me I’m wrong.

The biggest known LeBron James critic of all time took to Twitter to call it a ‘disgrace’ that James won the MVP over Stephen Curry, blaming politics for it.

As much as Bayless’ takes on LeBron should always be taken with a grain of salt, he might be right this time.

Curry hit 17 threes in the final two games.

He scored 36 in a four-point win and 24 in a title-clinching game.

James was more consistent, but definitely not more impactful when it mattered the most.

Even if they weren’t going to give Curry the trophy — which is something that has happened very often — Nikola Jokic had an even bigger case to win the award.

He led Serbia to the podium with Bogan Bogdanovic — who’s a very good player, but a role player nonetheless — as his second-best teammate.

He did so while almost averaging a triple-double and taking Team USA down to the wire.

Jokic totaled 113 points, 64 rebounds, and 52 assists, while Curry and James combined for 136 points, 53 rebounds, and 51 dimes.

This is just the way the game goes at times.

James has earned his stripes and many lifetime achievements, but he may not have been the rightful winner here.
