The New York Giants are in a bit of a transition year as they look to evaluate the current state of its roster after a rough 2023 NFL season that was marred by injuries.

Daniel Jones tore his ACL midway through the year, and though he’s on track to suit up for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season it could very well be his last year in New York.

Jones looked great in 2022, but regressed in 2023 due to a lack of reliable receiving options and a banged up offensive line.

However, the Giants did manage to strike gold in the 2024 NFL Draft as they had LSU star receiver Malik Nabers fall into their laps at the sixth spot.

Nabers has been electric during practices, getting open downfield and making spectacular plays on the field.

Nabers did end up getting hurt in New York’s most recent practice though it appears that he escaped with an ankle sprain via Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

“There is a belief it’s a minor ankle sprain for Malik Nabers,” Raanan reported.

It’s good news that Nabers avoided anything serious as he will be heavily relied upon to carry the passing game in his rookie year.

There were some in the industry that considered Nabers to be the best overall wide receiver prospect in the draft, and for a good reason given his mix of speed, hands and route running.

For now, it’s likely that the Giants play it safe with Nabers and hold him out of the next couple of practices to preserve his health.
