The Carolina Panthers will be looking to improve upon their dismal 2023 NFL campaign once the 2024 NFL season kicks off.
The Panthers finished with the worst record in 2023, though it might’ve been expected considering the porous state of their offense.
While Bryce Young represents a rare bright spot on the roster, the team didn’t set him up well for success as the receiving corps and offensive line were poor.
However, the team did make some major offensive improvements through free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft so Young is now in a better spot to show what he can do on the field.
While Carolina did lose its first preseason game against the New England Patriots, their core group of players didn’t play.
Rookie kicker Harrison Mevis managed to score the only Panthers’ points, but he was waived by the team afterward via the team’s official Twitter account.

After waiving Mevis, Carolina announced they signed tackle Tyler Smith in his place.
With Mevis no longer on the roster, the Panthers are set to roll with veteran kicker Eddy Pineiro who is the lone remaining kicker.
Pineiro has hit on 89 percent of his field goals and 91 percent on extra points, excellent numbers and probably why Carolina felt comfortable releasing Mevis.
This move likely has little consequence for the Panthers during the 2024 season as all eyes will be on the offense and Young’s development in his second year.
Special teams seem locked into place now, so it’ll be interesting to see how the offense and defense fare in 2024.
