Heading into Saturday’s gold medal game against Victor Wembanyama’s French squad in Paris, France, Team USA was coming off a close call against Serbia and three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic in a game they probably should’ve lost.
Fortunately for the Americans, the team had Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry to lean on, who scored a game-high 36 points in an incredible shooting display that will never be forgotten.
As if that performance against Serbia wasn’t impressive enough and prevented Team USA from suffering a disappointing and historic upset, Curry followed it up with another game-saving performance against France, resulting in the Americans taking home the gold medal.
In the fourth quarter against France, Curry singlehandedly took over the game and showed why he’s considered to be the greatest shooter of all time, as he went ballistic to save the day and secure the win for Team USA, which sparked this reaction from Kevin Durant when asked if this performance was the best heat check ever via Terry.
“That’s probably the greatest,” Durant said.

Before putting on a shooting and scoring display in the final two games of the tournament, Curry wasn’t having a great stretch of games for Team USA, as he seemed to struggle to find his role on the team after being the undisputed leader of the Warriors for so long while leading the franchise to four NBA titles.
However, that is all forgotten now, as Curry came into his own when Steve Kerr and his coaching staff needed him the most, and his performance in the 2024 Olympics will now be considered legendary.
