The Washington Commanders may be in a rebuild during the 2024 NFL season, but the team must be feeling optimistic after taking Jayden Daniels No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Daniels had an outstanding final collegiate season at LSU that resulted in him winning the Heisman Trophy.
A dual-threat quarterback with a strong arm and a knack for scrambling out of trouble, Daniels brings a ton of upside at the position and will give head coach Dan Quinn and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury some fun concepts to play around with.
Daniels made his preseason debut against the New York Jets and looked solid in his limited time on the field, completing two of his three passes for 45 yards.
Daniels got a chance to show off his running ability, too, as he ran in a touchdown at the goal line off a keeper play.
It was a glimpse at what Daniels can do at the professional level, though he did give his LSU teammate and New York Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers some flak for not coming to see him in person via Up & Adams.
“#Commanders QB Jayden Daniels was upset with former LSU teammate and #Giants WR Malik Nabers for not coming to his preseason debut at MetLife Stadium yesterday.”

Nabers explains that he wasn’t aware Daniels would play against the Jets, but did express confidence that the rookie quarterback will be what people expect of him.
Nabers, like Daniels, is expected to play a large role in the offense in his first year and it should be fun watching the former Tigers make their mark in the NFL.
