The San Francisco 49ers are still in a difficult spot with Brandon Aiyuk.
Aiyuk continues to sit out of practice, but he is at least in the building.
This allows him to attend meetings and interact with fellow players and coaches, including head coach, Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan has made it clear throughout the offseason that the 49ers want to retain Aiyuk for as long as possible, as he is a fantastic player and playmaker.
With Aiyuk in the building during their contract dispute, one might assume that this would pave the way for more conversations with Shanahan, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Matt Maiocco of NBCS recently quoted Shanahan on the situation, who said, “I’ve met with Brandon a bunch here since we started out camp, and I’m not going to get into any personal things between us.”
#49ers coach Kyle Shanahan downplayed reports he had a recent meeting with WR Brandon Aiyuk, whose contract situation remains unresolved. “I’ve met with Brandon a bunch here since we started out camp, and I’m not going to get into any personal things between us.”

There were reports that meetings were happening, but Shanahan was quick to shut those down.
He wants to keep this matter private when possible, hoping he, Aiyuk, and the front office can get a deal done soon.
Shanahan knows the clock is ticking to get a deal done.
With less than a month until the regular season kicks off, the 49ers might have to budge if they want Aiyuk to stick around.
Otherwise, he could force his way out of the team via a trade, and for a team with Super Bowl aspirations, losing him could be detrimental to those chances and hopes.
