Disaster struck for the Cincinnati Bengals during the 2023 regular season.

The face of the franchise, Joe Burrow, suffered a season-ending injury.

This injury not only hurt the Bengals’ chances of making a deep playoff run last year, but it also put Burrow’s future into question.

When this injury was announced, fans were unsure how this situation would play out, and if Burrow would be available and viable to play in the 2024 campaign.

Thankfully, things seem to be getting better for the young QB.

Burrow did play in the Bengals’ first preseason game, going 5/7 for 51 yards and a touchdown pass.

While he looked strong and ready for regular season action, Burrow recently told reporters that there’s one thing he wants to do before taking the field.

“Just get that thing hit one time before you’re out there in a real game,” Burrow said via Around The NFL.

Burrow didn’t face any contact in the preseason game.

No matter how healthy a player feels, taking the first hit after an injury is a general litmus test for what their body can take.

Burrow is hoping to take a hit in their next preseason game that’s not major, but something that could help prepare himself for what’s to come.

When the team is fully healthy, the Bengals stand to be one of the best teams in the AFC.

They proved that by making it to the Super Bowl in 2021, and considering their track record against teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bengals’ chances of repeating success are looking good.
