Shaquille O’Neal could’ve been the greatest player in NBA history.
He took Wilt Chamberlain’s physical dominance to a whole new level, becoming the most unstoppable force the game had ever seen — still to this day.
However, there was a brief period of time in which Shaq actually thought he could’ve played in the NFL.
In the latest edition of The Big Podcast, Shaq admitted that he considered playing football when he was in high school.

He played tight end, but eventually decided that he would be better off with basketball.
Notably, NFL defensive players should be thankful that Shaquille O’Neal didn’t make it to the NFL.
He would’ve been the biggest mismatch the game had ever seen.
Then again, he also struggled with injuries, and his work ethic and body conditioning weren’t particularly at his best for most of his career, so perhaps his body wouldn’t have held up for long if he had decided to pursue a career in football.
It all worked out perfectly for him.
He claimed that he took that football physicality to the NBA, and that was a good way to describe him.
It often took three guys to take him down and they were the ones getting hurt more often than not.
Still, even if those who guarded him don’t agree, the game of basketball is thankful for Shaq.
