The Denver Broncos may have found their guy.
It always seemed like Bo Nix was a lock to be their starter.
That’s why it was somewhat surprising to see the Broncos listing Jarrett Stidham as their QB1 on their first official depth chart.
However, with the way he performed in the preseason opener vs. the Indianapolis Colts, Colin Cowherd and John Middlekauff believe the QB competition is a wrap already (Via The Volume).

Cowherd stated that this was the guy Sean Payton hoped he’d get.
He claimed that Nix looked much more comfortable in the pocket than Zach Wilson, who’s one of his backups.
He also talked about the fact that he played in the SEC, which is the best defensive conference in all of college football, before moving to the best version of the PAC-12 we’ve seen in quite a while.
Middlekauff, on the other hand, stated that Nix should definitely get the starting job, as his athleticism clearly translates to the pros and his arm strength is definitely above average.
So, even though he knows Coach Payton is an old-school guy and won’t just hand the starting job over to him, it’s not like the Broncos have anybody better than him at quarterback right now.
It’s just the first week of the preseason, so one shouldn’t overreact.
Then again, Nix is clearly the obvious choice there, and they shouldn’t waste any second or any rep in practice and just get Nix working out with the first team.
