After deciding to move on from the Justin Fields experiment in the Windy City, the Chicago Bears had the opportunity to bring in one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft, with the storied franchise having the No. 1 overall pick at their disposal.

Despite all the speculation about the team’s intentions heading into the draft, it seems as though USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams was their choice all along, as they didn’t hesitate to bring him in when the time came.

The move to draft Williams was a no-brainer, with everyone seemingly dubbing him as the next superstar quarterback in the NFL, who might be able to follow in the footsteps of Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud.

Over the weekend, Chicago got their first look at Williams in a Bears uniform on the football field, and he didn’t disappoint as he was impressive in his first preseason game, which has led Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports to say he showed all his unique skills right out of the gate via The Volume.

“He showed every tool in the toolbox,” John Middlekauff said.

Williams only had seven pass attempts and completed a little over half of those with four completions, but he definitely showed flashes of why so many have been so high on his potential to be an NFL superstar and the key to the Bears becoming a force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future.

The Bears crushed the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, 33-6, but the team and the rest of the league won’t get a good assessment of the rookie quarterback until Chicago’s season gets underway on September 8, when they host the Tennessee Titans at Soldier Field.
