After putting a disastrous 2023 NFL season behind them, the New York Jets are hoping to bounce back with a vengeance with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers fully recovered from his Achilles injury and the team adding some important pieces to the championship puzzle over the offseason.

One of those important pieces to the roster this year was linebacker Hassan Reddick, who the team acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles after the 2023 campaign, which many believed would make a great defense that much better in 2024.

Unfortunately for the Jets, things haven’t gone smoothly with Reddick during his short time in New York thus far, as he wants to get a new deal and is holding out from training camp as a result.

With Reddick not getting the new lucrative long-term contract he desires, the 29-year-old informed the team that he’d like to be traded again, which is surprising, especially since he hasn’t played a down for the Jets yet.

Even though Reddick has expressed his desire to be moved, the Jets brass have no intention of making that move, with general manager Joe Douglas sending out this statement about the situation on Monday via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Obviously, this is not a great start with Reddick, as he is already at odds with the Jets front office, which probably hasn’t made the best impression and could make for a rough season ahead if things don’t get settled soon.

With the Jets drawing a line in the stand, Reddick only stands to lose money with fines from here on out, which could force him to finally join the team and play out the 2024 NFL season.
