Millions of kids across America dream of becoming an NBA star, but so few of them have the basic physical qualities to realize that dream.
Many basketball stars seem almost superhuman because of their height, overall size, speed, leaping ability and power, and those qualities can make it hard for fans to fully relate to them.
But Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is of average height (he’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds), and he lacks next-level athleticism or strength, yet he’s a four-time NBA champion, and he now owns an Olympic gold medal.
While reflecting on Curry’s excellent play in the 2024 Summer Olympics, former NFL player LeSean McCoy said on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak” that Curry is an example of the American dream because he isn’t an athletic freak like many other NBA superstars and all-time greats.

McCoy said that Curry is an example of what anyone can accomplish if they work hard and get obsessed with their craft regardless of how much natural talent they have.
At the same time, Curry’s father was a good NBA player, which gave him a major advantage over most other young prospects, as he got to grow up around the league and have access to top-notch training and coaching.
The guard is now considered arguably one of the 10 greatest NBA players ever, not to mention the greatest outside shooter ever, and he has changed the game by lifting people’s imagination when it comes to the type of long-distance shots that can be made on a consistent basis.
One can have the advantage of being born to a good NBA player such as Dell Curry, but one also has to put in those 10,000 hours or so of hard work and smart work in order to succeed wildly, and that’s exactly what the younger Curry has done.
