The Detroit Lions have been viewed as the laughingstock of the league for a long time.
They have had some great players go through the organization, but for whatever reason, they haven’t found a way to materialize that into tangible results.
Despite the lack of success as a franchise, the Lions kept their head high, knowing their turn was coming.
Dan Campbell has completely turned the culture of this team around, and they won the NFC North last season for the first time in franchise history.
Not only was this a step in the right direction for the Lions, but it’s an indication that they could be a force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future.
With their 2023 success in mind, teams are now aware of what the Lions can do, which makes them a threat heading into the new year.
The Lions don’t seem to care, at least according to Barry Sanders.
Sanders has appeared at the Lions training camp a few times this summer, and recently called them “The hunted,” according to reporter Brad Galli.

For a team that was viewed as a relatively easy opponent a few years ago, this is quite the stark difference.
They can move forward confidently knowing they can beat difficult NFC opponents, which should help their mentality, especially in the playoffs, assuming they make it there.
The Lions’ road might not be as easy as last year, as all three teams in the NFC North have made strides to get better.
