This last weekend was a big one for LeBron James, who earned his third Olympic gold medal and was named Olympic MVP as well.
However, according to former NBA star Stephon Marbury, James didn’t deserve to be called Most Valuable Player.
According to NBACentral, Marbury recently said:
“I get LeBron is the King to many, but let me say this: when you give him what he doesn’t deserve, you basically say that because of what he’s done, he should receive such a high honor on the biggest stage. No, he didn’t earn it this time.”

That’s a pretty big statement from Marbury and it has a lot of people talking.
Many fans believe that James easily earned MVP at the Paris games, while others believe he received the honor because of his years of service for the NBA and Team USA.
Considering this was his last time at the Olympics, some people feel that he was named MVP as a sign of respect for everything he has accomplished throughout his lengthy career.
At the same time, James did play incredibly well and was easily one of the most impactful players for the Americans.
But some feel that Steph Curry or Kevin Durant should have been named MVP instead, especially because this was likely their last Olympics too.
Regardless, it was James who received the title and Marbury isn’t happy about it.
James has often pushed back when people have critiqued or spoken poorly about him so it’ll be interesting to see if he addresses these words from the two-time All-Star.
