The Dallas Cowboys aren’t in a good position right now.

They lost some of their key players in the offseason, and they don’t seem to be very high on Dak Prescott as the face of the franchise.

Also, despite his success in the regular season, there have always been some serious doubts about Mike McCarthy and his ability to lead this team back to the mountaintop.

With that in mind, former NFL star Asante Samuel went out of his way to make a rather interesting prediction.

As reported by Mike Greenberg on ESPN’s Get Up, Samuel claimed that Bill Belichick would eventually take the reins of the team.

He argued that Jerry Jones is desperate to win another Super Bowl, and he knows that Belichick is the guy he needs to get over the hump.

This isn’t the first time this rumor has surfaced.

Notably, it’s hard to envision Jones and Belichick being able to coexist, as they both love to be in control and micromanage every single aspect of the game, and it seems like a recipe for disaster.

Also, there was literally nothing standing in Jones’ way to hire Belichick this offseason.

He had more than enough arguments to fire McCarthy after a humiliating and disappointing postseason loss, and Belichick was a free agent.

The Cowboys haven’t been relevant, football-wise, for decades now.

Ratings and fans will always be there, but the Vince Lombardi trophy will continue to be an unrealistic goal for as long as they keep doing things the same way.
