For most of this past spring, NBA fans were lamenting about the looming retirement of TNT’s long-running hit show Inside the NBA.
Charles Barkley, the former player turned beloved Inside the NBA co-host even went so far as to announce his own retirement from broadcasting after the 2024-2025 basketball season.
However, TNT recently ponied up and offered Sir Charles a massive amount of money to stick around and Barkley signed on the dotted line, meaning he will stay at TNT past this season.
On Tuesday, Barkley was on the Dan LeBatard Show and it was revealed that Barkely could have received even more money from the network but took a small amount so key people in the network could stay for another year.
LeBatard asked Barkley how much money he left on the table to make sure that those people could keep their jobs.

“A minimum of 100 million. A minimum, man. … I want to thank all those networks for reaching out to me. It was really humbling and cool. I wasn’t even thinking. Like I said, Dan, even though they were throwing crazy numbers, I was like, ‘d****,’ But as long as I got my people safe at TNT, man, I feel really good,” said Barkley, via NBA Central.
In 2022, Barkley signed a 10-year contract extension with TNT for $200 million.
He has been with the network since 2000 and partners with Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and since 2011, Shaquille O’Neal on Inside the NBA.
The quirky personalities of Barkley and O’Neal, along with the supreme talent of Johnson and the steady work of Smith, have made the show a hit.
