The Kansas City Chiefs have had a brutal offseason filled with injuries, arrests, and awkward commencement speeches, and fans at this point are just begging for the season to start to hopefully put these unfortunate occurrences in the rearview mirror and get the journey started toward a third consecutive Super Bowl.
Another injury to a key player took place in practice today, but luckily the team doesn’t seem too concerned about it.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared that starting right tackle Jawaan Taylor suffered a shoulder injury in practice today, but acknowledged that one source said the team is “not overly concerned at this time.”

Taylor hasn’t missed a game in his career since being drafted in the second round in 2019 by the Jacksonville Jaguars and was a topic of many conversations last year after he appeared to find a loophole in the rulebook and seemingly got away with false starts every week.
The Chiefs’ offensive line has collectively been the unsung hero of the team’s dominant run over the past five years or so as superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been sacked more than 28 times in a season in his career, so any injuries to that unit are scary and threaten the team’s chances at a three-peat.
Taylor’s injury, thankfully, should be minor and fans will likely be fortunate to have him back on the field sooner rather than later.
Taylor signed a four-year deal for $80 million last March and did a fantastic job at right tackle this past season.
Keep an eye out for updates regarding his status for Saturday’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions.
