The Brandon Aiyuk situation seems to take a hard left turn every day and it has become this offseason’s longest ongoing saga as the San Francisco 49ers seem to be on the fence about whether to trade the star receiver or give him a long-term contract extension.
The most recent update in this story is that Aiyuk reportedly made some notable changes ahead of today’s practice.
Niners insider Grant Cohn provided a thorough update on Aiyuk’s status on Day 15 of training camp and pointed out that Aiyuk was watching from the sideline standing away from head coach Kyle Shanahan while wearing a 49ers shirt (which is the first time he has worn a team logo in training camp) and eventually talking to general manager John Lynch, all signs that indicate to Cohn that it appears as if Aiyuk isn’t going anywhere.

Cohn made it abundantly clear that Aiyuk was drinking a lot of blue Gatorade, but most importantly, he interacted with all his teammates and the front office and appeared to simply want a new contract and didn’t want to go somewhere else to get it.
The possibility of a trade still seems to be on the table, but there is a feeling that if this situation has dragged out this long, it means that the front office is working to find a resolution that keeps Aiyuk in San Francisco.
If he was going to be traded, it likely would have happened by now.
