One of the NFL’s most intriguing quarterback battles this preseason is taking place in Denver, Colorado.
Rookie quarterback Bo Nix, former first-round pick Zach Wilson, and veteran Jarrett Stidham are currently dueling over the starting quarterback role.
However, in a different development this week as opposed to last week, Nix is reportedly going to take the first-team reps in practice before starting in Denver’s second preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
According to Broncos head coach Sean Payton (via insider Zac Stevens), Nix will take “a majority” of the first-team practice reps before starting this weekend.
Sean Payton said Bo Nix will take a majority of the first-team reps this week leading up to his first start on Sunday.
Said it was the same last week with Jarrett Stidham.

Jarrett Stidham, who has been in the league the longest between himself, Nix, and Wilson, took the first-team reps last week before starting.
Perhaps this is all a part of Payton’s strategy of finding out who will be the next starter of the Broncos.
If this trend continues, it could be Zach Wilson’s time to take the first-team reps next week.
This whole battle is so fascinating because each quarterback has something attractive from an offensive perspective.
Nix is arguably the most talented of the group and is the most experienced quarterback in the history of college football (61 career starts).
Stidham is entering his sixth NFL season and has played for the most teams (3), which are both the most among the group.
Finally, Wilson has the most starts in the NFL among the three players (33 career starts).
It will be interesting to see what Payton has to say after Nix’s start and once Wilson possibly takes over next week as the starter.
