Cleveland Browns fans received a recent scare when Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward attempted to make a tackle on wide receiver Elijah Moore at Browns practice.

After the tackle, Ward is now in concussion protocol, per Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot.

Ward, who has yet to play a full season in his soon-to-be seven-year career, will take some time to get out of the protocol before practicing in full capacity again.

The former Ohio State Buckeye has only played in more than 14 regular season games just one time in his career.

A concussion is worth monitoring only if a player has a big history of them but as long as Ward continues to clear the steps in the protocol, he should be okay.

After winning 11 games last season without the likes of franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson and Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb, this Browns team is itching to see what they can do when they are fully healthy.

On defense, the Browns are one of the best overall units in the league and Ward is a huge part of that.

The three-time Pro-Bowler has recorded 10+ pass deflections and multiple interceptions in every single season of his career.

There are multiple reasons why the Browns finished last season ranked first in both total defense and pass defense.

Ward is one of those reasons and in terms of his importance, he means just as much to the backend as All-Pro edge-rusher Myles Garrett means to the defensive line.

It is imperative that he stays healthy in 2024.
