Superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens is, without a doubt, one of the most talented players in the NFL and someone the franchise wanted to build a team around as he is a generational talent that has exceeded expectations thus far in his career on the professional level.

Although Jackson is in the elite class of quarterbacks in the NFL, the two-time NFL MVP has had his issues with injuries over the years and plays a style that can make him prone to get injured more often than his peers at his position.

That said, the Ravens always seem to take the cautious approach with the face of the franchise, as they can’t risk losing him to injury because of how important he is to what the team does offensively.

This year, Baltimore will once again go with the cautious approach with Jackson, as it was announced by longtime head coach John Harbaugh that he will not play in Saturday’s preseason game at home against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

NFL teams keeping their superstar quarterbacks sidelined for preseason games isn’t new, and considering Jackson’s injury history and style of play, it is probably the right move.

Another aspect of Jackson’s health and the team trying to keep him ready for the start of the season is the fact that the Ravens will start the season early this year, as they will take on the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on September 5.
