The Brandon Aiyuk soap opera continues to hang over the San Francisco 49ers, and it is anyone’s guess how it will end.

The 49ers reportedly have a trade agreement in place with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they’re also working on getting an extension done with the wide receiver in order to keep arguably the NFL’s most talented roster intact.

Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group said on 95.7 The Game that Aiyuk was at practice on Wednesday and acted as if he was a “part of this team.”

“Just watching Brandon and how he paid attention to practice, he was invested. Paying attention to every single play and looked very much a part of this team.”

There have been reports that while Aiyuk asked to be traded weeks ago, he doesn’t really want to leave San Francisco, even though he has shown some desire to play for the Steelers.

He led San Francisco in receptions and receiving yards last season, and the 26-year-old is on a trajectory that could result in even better numbers this coming season, especially if he remains put.

While Aiyuk is a fantastic player who not only makes plays but also blocks well for his teammates when he isn’t getting the football, there is also a sense that he has greatly benefitted from head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offensive system.

The Niners have also benefitted from Aiyuk’s skills, as their passing offense has steadily improved over the last few years and allowed them to get to the very brink of a Super Bowl championship last season.

Getting him signed could very well be the difference between winning it all and being in danger of not even making the playoffs this winter.
