Patrick Beverley’s brief stay with the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t work out like fans hoped and he ultimately didn’t stay beyond most of the 2022-23 season.

Now Beverley is speaking out about his time in Los Angeles and his relationship with former Lakers coach Darvin Ham.

On the latest episode of his podcast, per NBACentral, Beverley said that Ham approached him recently in Las Vegas and apologized.

Ham reportedly apologized because he said he should have taken Beverley’s advice and made the Lakers practice more.

He should have put more effort into making the team work together instead of just focusing on the talent of the team.

According to Beverley, Ham always had the final say because he was the coach of the team.

Beverley believes that’s the way it should be.

However, he also felt that the Lakers weren’t practicing enough, watching enough film, and attempting to get better.

Instead, they were simply expecting their talent to allow them to win.

There is a lot of talent on the team, from LeBron James to Anthony Davis and beyond.

But the Lakers have shown that it takes more than talent to win a lot of games.

Beverley never really fit with the Lakers and ultimately left the team for the Chicago Bulls and beyond.

It seems clear now that his time with the team was filled with miscommunication and dysfunction.

A lot has changed for the team since Beverley left.

For example, Ham is now gone too.

Will this new-look Lakers practice more and do better than the iteration Beverley was a part of?
