The Jacksonville Jaguars got off to a fantastic start last season at 8-3 and were fighting over the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
However, Pro Bowl quarterback Trevor Lawrence and 1,000-yard receiver Christian Kirk were two key players who dealt with injuries along the way, which contributed to the team losing five of its last six games and eventually missing the playoffs.
As the team is now in the midst of joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kirk himself is dealing with some more injury woes.
According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Kirk is dealing with a calf injury that has kept him out of joint practices.
“He will be re-evaluated next week,” Wolfe recently posted on social media.
Jaguars WR Christian Kirk has a mild calf injury that has kept him out of joint practices vs. Bucs + Saturday’s preseason game, per HC Doug Pederson. He will be re-evaluated next week.
Pederson said QB Trevor Lawrence won’t play Sat. Happy with joint practice reps this week.

Luckily, it is only the second week of the preseason, which means there is plenty of time for Kirk to get back to being his old self.
The fact that the calf injury is a mild one is a good sign too because if it was worse, he could be in danger of missing the start of the season.
Aside from back-to-back 1,000-yard running back Travis Etienne, Kirk is arguably the team’s most important skill player.
If not for an injury-hampered season last year, the former Cardinal was likely on track for another 1,000-yard season.
This time around, despite losing Calvin Ridley to the rival Titans this offseason, Jacksonville has some depth at wide receiver behind Kirk in the form of free-agent signee Gabe Davis and first-round receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
Still, it would be wise for the Jaguars to monitor the progress of their No. 1 deep threat as the preseason moves along.
