Before Kevin Durant became a superstar in the NBA and one of the all-time greats with two championships to his credit, the lanky forward with a skinny frame was a dominant scorer for the University of Texas and thought to be a star on the rise, even though there were questions whether his body would hold up on the professional level.

Durant went on to prove those doubters wrong after he was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, behind No. 1 pick Greg Oden by the Portland Trail Blazers.

Although Durant made a name for himself once the franchise became the Oklahoma City Thunder, the superstar didn’t reach the ultimate team success until he joined forces with Stephen Curry on the Golden State Warriors, where he went on to win two NBA titles and cement his legacy as an all-time great.

In an exciting twist to the NBA schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 regular season, Durant will get to play on the floor of his alma mater one more time, as the Phoenix Suns will take on Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs at Texas’ Moody Center, according to NBA on TNT.

Not only will the Feb. 20 game have Durant returning to where he played in college, but at that point of the regular season, the Suns and Spurs will have established themselves in terms of whether they are legitimate playoff teams or possibly long-shot title contenders.
