The Dallas Cowboys need to give quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and pass rusher Micah Parsons contract extensions soon, with the situation is hanging over the franchise like a growing storm cloud.
Unlike the San Francisco 49ers’ contract situation with wideout Brandon Aiyuk, the Cowboys could go from a very good team to a non-playoff team if they end up losing Lamb due to not agreeing with him on an extension.
Former NFL receiver James Jones went a bit further and said that Lamb simply is the Cowboys’ offense and that he’s almost as valuable to them as Prescott is.
“I think we are underestimating … how valuable CeeDee Lamb is, “Jones said on “Speak.” “… CeeDee’s the offense, CeeDee is very, very valuable for them, dang near almost as valuable as Dak Prescott.”

Lamb is undoubtedly one of the NFL’s five best wideouts and last season led the league in receptions, was second in receiving yards and third in receiving touchdowns.
He has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past three seasons and earned his first All-Pro First Team selection in 2023.
A big problem the Cowboys have is that for all their star power on the surface, they have some real holes in the roster, and one of them is a lack of wide receiver depth and firepower behind Lamb.
They traded for Brandin Cooks last offseason, thinking he would be a legitimate WR2 for them, but he managed just 657 yards.
Lamb is holding out of training camp while looking for a new contract, and this entire situation is seemingly threatening to implode this current iteration of the Cowboys while also possibly triggering a long retooling process.
