The NBA schedule for the 2024-25 season has been released, and one thing fans looked at once it came out was the marquee games that will be shown on national television.

In recent years, load management has become a buzzword, as some players have preferred to sit out games even though they have been healthy enough to play simply for rest or to prepare for an upcoming marquee game.

According to NBA reporter Tim Reynolds, this season, teams will be off the day before and the day after after what are termed “high-profile national TV games,” via NBACentral.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has worked on getting teams and players more rest within the confines of the schedule over the past several years to try to reduce the risk of injury and increase the overall quality of play, especially during such marquee contests.

As a result, the number of back-to-back games has gone down significantly over the past decade or so, which has helped give players a bit of breathing room throughout the season.

The league has tried to crack down on load management, and last season instituted a rule that players are eligible for some individual awards only if they appear in a minimum of 65 regular-season games.

Unfortunately for fans, they will have to start to invest in streaming services in order to watch some big regular season matchups once the NBA’s new media deal takes effect for the 2025-26 season.
