Deshaun Watson’s first couple of years with the Cleveland Browns have been rocky, to say the least, as despite having the largest fully guaranteed contract in NFL history, the quarterback has played just 12 games and hasn’t looked anything like the superstar he was with the Houston Texans prior to his lengthy suspension.
One former Browns legend recently revealed why he believes Watson should be playing this preseason.
Former legendary return man Josh Cribbs recently said on his show, “The Return With Josh & Maria Cribbs,” “You can’t simulate the type of pressure you get during a game for quarterbacks.”
“The knowledge of knowing these guys are coming for you during the game, that changes things, that provides some extra level of readiness for quarterbacks that you just can’t get in practice,” Cribbs added.

It’s a fair point, as it is becoming increasingly trendy leaguewide for teams to sit their franchise quarterback for the entirety of the preseason regardless of their age or injury history.
Watson has been fully cleared for contract, and reports say he will see some action in the preseason finale, but until then he’ll be on the bench observing, including this week against the Minnesota Vikings.
It has been four years since fans have seen Watson at his best, and given the state of the Browns roster, it’s time to go, because they are a team with Super Bowl aspirations and championship-level talent all over the field.
Watson completed more than 70 percent of his passes in 2020 for 4,823 yards and 33 touchdowns in his final season with the Texans, but has thrown just 14 touchdowns in 12 games over his two years in Cleveland.
