After an incredible 2022 NFL season in which the Philadelphia Eagles saw quarterback Jalen Hurts become a legitimate superstar, leading the team to the Super Bowl, many believed the future would be bright for their leader under center.

However, instead of making another leap forward in 2023, Hurts saw his interceptions skyrocket, going from six to a career-high 15, and his completion percentage went down, even though his passing and rushing touchdowns went up.

Although he made the Pro Bowl for a second straight year, Hurts did show some concerning flaws in his game, which will be a storyline going into the 2024 NFL season as the Eagles hope to have a bounce-back year after flaming out down the stretch and in the first round of the playoffs.

However, pundit Nick Wright said he believes that Hurts’ breakout season in 2022 was nothing more than a fluke, and he doesn’t think the young quarterback will be able to reach those heights again in his NFL career.

“Right now, if I had to make a bet, I would bet 2022 was an aberration. … I don’t expect Jalen Hurts to be able to do that again,” Wright said on “First Things First.”

With Hurts being one of the more versatile quarterbacks in the NFL and having one of the most talented offenses in the league at his disposal — especially with the addition of superstar running back Saquon Barkley — he’s got a great chance of replicating the 2022 campaign or perhaps having an even better season than that year’s performance.

The loss of star center Jason Kelce to retirement will be costly, but Hurts and the Eagles offense should still be a force to be reckoned with and have great potential to be high-powered in 2024 and beyond.
