Few people are expecting the Denver Broncos to make the playoffs this season, and they don’t exactly have one of the most imposing rosters in the NFL.

They have a rookie quarterback in Bo Nix, as well as underwhelming veterans in Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson, and they have some deficiencies across their roster.

But Zac Stevens, a beat reporter for the Broncos, tweeted that during joint practices with the Green Bay Packers, the Broncos looked like the better team on offense and defense.

Are the Broncos better than the Packers? Only time will tell.

But on Friday, in joint practice, overall, the Broncos were the better team on offense and defense.

Many believe the Packers are a contender in the NFC.

Maybe the Broncos are better than the 5.5 win total that Vegas…

The Packers’ are everyone’s darlings right now after their unexpected success last season, which saw them finish with a flurry and get to the brink of an NFC Championship Game appearance.

It seems foolish to suggest the Broncos are anywhere near the same level, but as the old saying goes, there’s a reason they play the actual games.

Nix was outstanding in college as a member of the University of Oregon Ducks, and in 2023, he led the NCAA with 364 completed passes and 45 passing touchdowns while setting a record by completing 77.4 percent of his pass attempts.

But Denver doesn’t have any world-beaters at the skill positions on offense — wide receiver Courtland Sutton is in the “good but not great” category, as is newcomer Josh Reynolds.

They’re hoping that wideout Tim Patrick, who missed both of the last two seasons due to a torn ACL and a torn Achilles, will have a strong bounce-back season.

The Broncos haven’t made the playoffs since the 2015 season, when they won the Super Bowl championship in Peyton Manning’s farewell game.
