New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto is having a career year in his first year in pinstripes and the elephant in the room is that free agency is right around the corner this offseason, where the 25-year-old will look to land a contract north of $500 million.

He and Aaron Judge are playing so well for the Yanks that the contract situation hasn’t been much of a focus, but it’s a reality that is coming up soon, and one insider recently named his top five landing spots ahead of next season.

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman shared his top five Soto landing spots on a recent episode of Inside Corner, with the Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and Toronto Blue Jays representing the top 5 potential spots, in order.

The Yankees are currently the heavy betting favorite at even odds while the Mets are a distant second at 5-1 odds as many fans have been expecting the two cross-town rivals to enter into a fierce battle for Soto’s long-term services.

The Dodgers seem to have an endless supply of money, and even after giving Shohei Ohtani $700 million and Yoshinobu Yamamoto $325 million this past offseason, it would shock absolutely nobody to see them throw another huge bag at Soto as well to lure him out west.

The Yanks haven’t been shy about their desire to keep Soto in pinstripes for the long term, but just like Yamamoto, when a 25-year-old superstar hits the open market, every team will start flipping mattresses to search for every dollar they have to throw at them.
