The Denver Nuggets were unceremoniously knocked off the mountaintop during the 2024 NBA Playoffs as they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the semifinals.
It was a disappointing end for the Nuggets who were on the verge of advancing, but fell apart in the later part of the series.
Now, Denver finds itself in a precarious position as the rest of the Western Conference has gotten better while they’ve lost some key depth pieces this past offseason.
The most notable loss was Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who signed with the Orlando Magic in free agency.
This will place even more of a burden on supporting players like Michael Porter Jr. come the 2024-25 NBA season.
Trae Young got a chance to play with Porter before he got to the NBA and said he would’ve been as good as Paul George were it not for his back injuries via Podcast P With Paul George.
“The difference in his game, he would’ve been another PG,” Young said. “He’s so offensively skilled and he’s just so smooth with his game and he was a really good defender in high school but he could’ve been an even better defender at this level.”

Porter was a highly-touted prospect who would’ve likely gone No. 1 overall in the NBA Draft if he was healthy.
His back surgery cost him several games, but he has managed to overcome that and turn into a valuable role player.
There’s no denying the talent he has, and it’s sad to think about what kind of career he could have had if he never got hurt.
