The NFL is no stranger to controversies as it’s dealt with numerous over the past couple of decades, though the Colin Kaepernick situation got the most national attention.

Kaepernick made waves when he started protesting the United States of America by kneeling during the national anthem.

This was seen as offensive by many because it came off as disrespectful to the country, but Kaepernick explained that it was a peaceful protest meant to bring awareness to police brutality.

Other players around the league joined Kaepernick, but the damage was done to the quarterback’s career as he would last play during the 20216 NFL season.

Since then, Kaepernick has practiced and visited with teams in hopes of landing an NFL job, but so far he has been on the outside looking in.

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess how serious Kaepernick is about making a comeback but Jason Smith doesn’t believe he intends on playing again via FOX Sports Radio.

“It was OK to sign him in 2019. He could have gotten back in if he wanted to, but he doesn’t and he didn’t. That should have been the end of the conversation,” Smith said.

Colin Kaepernick doesn’t really want to get back into the NFL:

Smith argues that Kaepernick had his opportunity to get back in the league in 2019, but forced teams to move locations to watch him work out.

While it sounded like Kaepernick was serious about wanting to practice on a different field, it appeared to rub teams the wrong way and no offer was made.

It’s unlikely that he ever suits up again, but it’s an interesting what-if scenario.
