The Minnesota Timberwolves had an easy decision on their hands when they had the No. 1 pick and Anthony Edwards was out there.
To some, there should’ve been a bigger debate about whether to take Edwards, LaMelo Ball, and James Wiseman.
Needless to say, it didn’t take long before that debate was settled.
Edwards has already established himself as one of the best players in the league, and the old guard of NBA stars know he’s next in line to take over.
That’s why it was nice to see Kevin Durant tipping his hat to him.
As shown by ClutchPoints and Hoop Central, Durant called him ‘the baby GOAT’ during an event, and even a confident guy like Edwards was humbled to hear that.

Edwards has always had plenty of praise for Durant, who he’s repeatedly called his favorite player of all time.
Even so, he’s not allowing himself to be starstruck by him.
If anything, that was only a more significant motivation to go at him and dominate him in the playoffs, and that series was sort of a passing of the torch and a feel-good moment between the two.
Edwards took a huge leap after spending last summer with Team USA with several young stars for the FIBA World Cup.
Now, with a full summer working out with some of the greatest players of all time for the Olympics, one can only wonder what version of the former No. 1 pick we’ll get in the upcoming season, and that should be scary for the rest of the league.
