The Houston Texans may be on the younger side, but they are quickly rising and are a dark horse candidate to make the Super Bowl during the 2024 NFL season.
Under head coach DeMeco Ryans, the Texans have established a tough, gritty style of football on both sides of the field though it’s the offense that has people excited this upcoming year.
The offense starts and ends with C.J Stroud who established himself as the next superstar quarterback in the league after an impressive rookie year.
Stroud showed real poise in the pocket and a knack for making plays even when under duress.
Entering his second year in the NFL, the expectations are much higher for Stroud who will be counted on to lead Houston back to the postseason.
Although Stroud is still under contract for the next few years, Stephen A. Smith believes that the Texans will need to offer him at least half a billion dollars once he’s extension eligible via First Take.
“RC is not exaggerating when he says in a couple of years you might have to pay C.J. Stroud a half a billion dollars,” Smith said.

The number might seem astronomical on paper, but with the NFL’s salary cap continuing to rise that will likely be the going rate for quarterbacks like Stroud.
The biggest advantage a team has is a star quarterback on a rookie deal because of how cheap they are so now is the time to strike if Houston wants to win a title in a crowded AFC.
